A UK-based employability services and university placement provider has partnered with the University of Surrey to provide industry placements for pharmaceutical sciences students.

Twin Group will see its employability and placement expertise embedded into the University of Surrey’s School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering curriculum, with a focus on career-readiness.

“Surrey is renowned for the high quality of its graduates and has won awards for the employability of its students. This ‘Surrey Advantage’ will be further enhanced by our partnership with Twin Group,” Milan Antonijevic, program director at the University of Surrey, said.

The institution’s newly launched two-year MSc in pharmaceutical sciences will “successfully prepare” those seeking careers with specialist theoretical knowledge and exceptional laboratory skills, Antonijevic continued.

“For students doing the program which includes industrial practice, they also gain vital experience through high quality work placements, which Twin Group will help arrange.”

The organisation’s partnership model has already seen Twin partner with the University of Greenwich and gain industry recognition winning the ‘Employability International Impact’ winner at The PIEoneer Awards in 2023.

“We will support students through their interactions with companies to secure placements”

CEO and founder at Twin Group, Caroline Fox, said it will enhance the students’ transferable skills and ready them for interviews “from the outset”.

“We will support students through their interactions with companies to secure placements and monitor their engagement and progress during their year in industry,” she said.

“As the higher education landscape in the UK faces uncertainty, Twin Group firmly believes that 1+1 programs, like Surrey’s MSc in pharmaceutical sciences with industrial practice, will play an increasingly vital role, benefiting students and employers alike, while also contributing to institutional success.”

Twin added that along with the student and employer benefit, the 1+1 program is a cost-effective solution for institutions, thanks to its access to additional revenue streams, with minimal set-up costs.
