At the State of the University address Monday, Missouri State University President Clif Smart said the academic budget will be cut by $5 million for the 2023-24 year. Smart will work with executive vice president Zora Mulligan and interim provost John Jasinski to identify how much will come from different parts of the budget. "Zora, John and I have agreed that they will work to cut $5 million from academic budgets for FY24, the budget beginning July of next year," Smart said. "Of that amount, we anticipate we can reinvest $1.8 million to help grow the university and become more efficient in a changing environment."
