John L. Jackson Jr. has been appointed provost at the University of Pennsylvania. Jackson is Walter H. Annenberg Dean of the Annenberg School for Communication and Richard Perry University Professor at the University of Pennsylvania. He earned a bachelor’s degree in communication from Howard University and a Ph.D. in anthropology from Columbia University.
