President Biden rejected proposals to eliminate his plan to excuse up to $20,000 of the debt for many student loan borrowers, with income-eligibility requirements and a pending ruling from the Supreme Court.

But he agreed to an end in the pause on such repayments in the last week of August, just before before when he had already said the payments would restart.
