A University of Nebraska at Kearney visiting professor is on paid administrative leave after allegedly striking at least one student.
Pricila Iranah is listed as the “offender” on a campus police incident report the university provided Inside Higher Ed.
“I’m not going to be talking about this,” Iranah said Friday.
University spokesman Todd Gottula said no charges have been filed and the case is still open. He said Iranah taught biology.
“The faculty member was immediately placed on administrative leave and she is no longer teaching in the classroom, is not allowed on campus,” Gottula said. He said he wasn’t “at liberty to comment on" whether the professor is facing further discipline because it’s a personnel issue.
On April 3, a female student reported that on March 31, she was “intentionally struck in the head by her professor and it caused damage to a pre-existing head trauma,” says a Police and Parking Services “incident narrative” the university provided.
Gottula said the university received information involving three students and a female faculty member in a classroom on March 31.
