As the body responsible for research under the Higher Education and Research Act (2017), UK Research and Innovation offers its own definition. The British Academy points to ‘the impact and value research’ in the humanities and related disciplines ‘can deliver to policy makers and the wider public’. Oxford and Cambridge took note.
