The debate has been given renewed impetus with the publication of a heavyweight report Tackling the UK’s regional economic inequality: Binding constraints and avenues for intervention (Stansbury et al , 2023) published by Harvard University and Kings College, London. If we want to provide a mechanism for ‘levelling up’ this is an ideal model.
