The Howard University law professor and dean has been named Mount Holyoke College’s first permanent Black female president in the institution’s 186-year history. Under her leadership, the law school increased its national profile, created new programming and pulled in more funding and resources.

The president-designate was NYU’s Vice Chancellor and Senior Vice Provost for Global Programs and University Life for the past decade and is a lifetime member of the school’s senior leadership team.

Previously, Echambadi served as the dean of the D’Amore-McKim School of Business at Northeastern University. We are a technology-based school predominantly focused on engineering and computer science. We also have the first design school in the country. We were required to take a lot of liberal arts courses.
