Non-EU international students have driven a rise in emigration out of the UK while the number of students bringing dependants doubled in 2022, according to new data from the Office for National Statistics. In contrast, there was a rise in people arriving on humanitarian routes.

Over 59,000 Nigerians were granted study visas in 2022, compared to 6,798 in 2019.
