Some summer schools are beginning to offer higher-end, more tailored models because demand is shifting “away” from only offering English language teaching, said one provider. The head of the new EC Global Achievers Academy explained that potential pupils are simply asking for more. “What we’re finding is that we’re getting a lot of students coming through with requests of a much higher level [of English],” Niall Greaves told The PIE News.

After an 8% percent drop off in fiscal year 2022, endowment has surged back, nearly recouping its loss with a 7.7% gain, according to the latest report by the National Association of College and University Business Officers and Commonfund (NACUBO-Commonfund).

Stakeholders fear that Australia’s approach to visa policy and processing is damaging the chances of genuine students being able to enrol at universities across the country. Visa processing has been hampered by policy changes stemming from the migration strategy launched in December. The number of international undergraduate applications to UCAS has gone up by a 0.7% – but the figures are “partial” and the UK could even see a drop in the full year’s numbers, warn stakeholders. Figure released today by UCAS show that 115,730 international students applied to UG places by the January deadline. While applications from China were up 3% (+910 applications), Turkey up 37% (+710) and Canada up 14% (+340), figures from Nigeria and India decreased, by -46% and -4%, respectively.

Increasing numbers of physicians now receive their basic medical education at overseas schools that have less stringent admission requirements and operate under different regulations and quality assurance standards than medical schools in the U.S. and Canada.
