A new report from the Center for Community College Student Engagement (CCCSE) indicates that while 8,836 entering students at 40 community colleges around the country indicate that they intend to transfer to a four-year institution, the number that actually do is remarkably low. "Helping Community College Students Climb the Transfer Ladder" is based on the 2022 Survey of Entering Student Engagement (SENSE).

Working with edtech aggregators and addressing study permit refusal rates are among the recommendations set out by Canadian universities for the country’s international education strategy. Global Affairs Canada has begun consultations on the next iteration of the strategy, set to launch in 2024 and run for five years. Government reforms will boost Australia’s reputation worldwide, according to the assistant minister for education, assistant minister for regional development and senator for Queensland. “[The Nixon Review ] has given us all a frank picture of the exploitation of vulnerable people who come to Australia to study,” Anthony Chilsholm said at the ITEC Parliamentary Forum on November 14, adding the government is reacting as a direct response to the report.

Bradley University, a private Illinois nonprofit, rolled out plans this week to potentially eliminate over 20 academic programs and cut 68 faculty positions. The measures come after Bradley University President Stephen Standifird informed the campus this summer of a $13 million shortfall, which amounts to about 10% of the college’s operating budget.
